Running: Standard Chartered KL Marathon 2013 (Event Postponed)

Lots of backlash after the announcement about postponement of Standard Chartered KL Marathon 2013 by  the organisors which is supposed to be held this Sunday due to health concerns in Kuala Lumpur. I am too disappointed with the decision. But yeah, health is important.

3 marathons events till date that have been postponed for certain reasons. Borneo International Marathon 2013, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah (PRU13), Running: Supersports 10 Miles International Run 2013, Bangkok, Thailand (Organisor not ready) and now Standard Chartered KL Marathon 2013 (Haze Issue). What's next?

The race date have been changed to 29 September 2013.

Unboxing: Oakley Infinite Hero Radar Path

Bought myself an Oakley Radar recently. Been eyeing for a sporty sunglasses which was suitable for my running activity.

Unboxing The Infinite Hero
The Oakley Infinite Hero Radar Path adapts the signature colors of the collection which are carbon black with hot purple. The color purple is used for the military decoration known as the Purple Heart.

Was considering to get the normal edition of Radar earlier in white with Jade Iridium lens but will look similar to my white Gascan with Ruby Iridium lens. Got this at one of the Oakley authorised dealer in Pavilion, Bukit Bintang. Price was cheaper than the ones in Sungei Wang Plaza.

The set comes with the O Matter® frame, a single-lens Black Iridium® lens, extra nose-pad, soft-case, hard case and a Infinite Hero collector's pin. A standard warranty for 1 year like lens scratches, carbon frame pealing-off but not for its rubber temple.

As this is a limited edition collection, there is an infinite hero + symbol at the edge of the lense.

Special edition Infinite Hero soft case
There is an Infinite Hero collector's pin in the box

When You Go Purple, You Will Never Turn Back
Planning to get Blue Iridium lens to complete my Infinite Hero Radar glasses. The replacement lense is labelled as Blue Iridium but its more to a pupleish color.

Price starting from USD80 from the Oakley Store (US) but at MYR405 if you placed your order from Oakley Malaysia (HQ). Estimate 1-2 months for stock arrival subject to US availability though.

Running: Larian Kitar Semula 2013 (Kuala Lumpur)

Larian Kitar Semula is an annual event organised by PPSPPA. This year, the organisor decided to simplify their event by doing a 5KM Fun Run category only. To enter this run, participants are required to bring their recycleables as token of registration fee. 10 pieces of newspapers is one of the option given. Participants will get a t-shirt and BIB number for lucky draw entitlement after the race. Prizes like gadgets, bicycle, household item and a RM5K premium certificate as the grand prize.

Similar to last year, I was in-charged to handle registration for my company. PPSPPA is actually my company pay-master in the waste management industry. So we had to give sponsorships and special requests. I decided to produce our own company running tee this year to attract employees. Glad it was a good turn-out for my internal registration.

Blue: Company Running Tee; Maroon: PPSPPA Official T-Shirt

The run take place at Padang Merbuk, Kuala Lumpur this morning. Unfortunately the running track was less than 5KM as I was monitoring my running pace with Nike Running apps - it was actually 4KM. Tons of slow runners, or to be exact 'walkers' since people considered this as a family running event.

Met a lot of friends there. Most from Alam Flora, PPSPPA and also few Official Members from Honda City Club (HCC) --- Patrick and family, Michael Liau, Annie and Doggy Bone. Achieved 2738 of Nike Fuel via Nike Fuel Band. Reaching "GOAL' early in the morning was normal.

My Nike Fuel GOAL

Running today was a warm-up run for the next marathon event in Malaysia. Will be running for Standard Chartered KL Marathon in a few weeks.

Running: Supersports 10 Miles International Run 2013 (Thailand)

How I wish I can be in Bangkok, Thailand this weekend.

Successfully registered for Supersports 10 Miles International Run earlier. Cost me THB 300 for online registration last April 2013. So a Bangkok trip was pre-planned with air-fare and accommodation. Unfortunately, the organisor decided to postponed the event to 16 June (this weekend) instead of 19 May 2013. Tinguk seja la logo dia bah. Kin panas oh.

With a fee of THB300, participant will receive:

  • Race registration and running number
  • Pre-race souvenir pack (number, t-shirt, etc.)
  • Commemorative finisher's medal
  • Trophies for category winners

I'm still looking for a representative to pick up my race kit this weekend - 15 June 2013. Kalo nda rugi oh sa bayar THB300. At least ada la baju as souvenir kan?

So, if any kind readers will be in Bangkok at the mentioned date, I would be glad for collection-in-behalf.

Well, until the next running event in Bangkok city *sob sob*

Photography: LOMOgraphy

What is LOMO?

LOMO is a filter-effect that gives images an old-school analog look similar to that of photographs produced by the LOMO Kompakt Avtomat, a cult Russian camera manufactured during the Soviet period.

There are a lot of photo filters apps for iOS, Android and other smartphone platforms today. Once installed, just point, shoot and filter.

Here are photos filtered with my iPhone3Gs MORELOMO app since 2009. Do ignore the quality since its an iPhone3GS.

Review: Oakley Radar vs Radarlock

Keeping a look out for a new pair of Oakley sunglasses --- RADAR® PATH™.

Been reading reviews from other bloggers about this item. Hope there are good colour frames and lense combinations available at Malaysia distributors. Tried this before when I was in Jakarta at the official Oakley store in Grand Indonesia. Fitting was great, however didn't manage to purchase at that time.

Oakley Radar
Oakley RadarLock
The only difference between Radars and Radarlock is the way its swap its lenses.

Radarlock will have a locking switch on its temple. Unlocking in, you will be able to release the exisiting lense with the 2nd lense provided. While for Radar, you will need to twist the frame to release the lense. No 2nd lense though, you will need to purchase differently.

As for price, you will spend more on Radarlock since the package comes with 2 set of lenses.

Wish there is an official Oakley Store in Malaysia. At the official Oakley Store, you can pick and choose the frame type with your choice of lense at one go.

The Taurus Baby --- April 20

Taurus Astrology April 20 - May 20

Taurus Strength Keywords:

- Dependable
- Persistent
- Loyal
- Patient
- Generous

Taurus Deep Inside:

Taurus are not fond of change. In fact, is change is imminent, they get very nervous and worried. They do not like anything new because anything new is unknown and Taurus fears the unknown. Taurus needs order in their lives and when they do not have order, they get very anxious. Taurus will cut themselves off from the unfamiliar in order to avoid the feelings of insecurity that arise when new experiences and situations are present. Taurus do not express their feelings openly and their inner self is contained and secretive. Many people do not know how sensitive Taurus really is, they hide it well. As a result, they are often emotionally hurt when the wrong things are said, they take things too personally sometimes. Taurus avoids talking about their emotions and many people never really know how they feel.

Travel: The Temple of Dawn, Bangkok (Thailand)

Unbelievably, there are over 31200 Buddhist temples spread around Thailand. In Thai these are called wat.

One of these, the Wat Arun or the Temple of Dawn, is named after Aruna, the Indian God of Dawn. Sitting majestically on the Thonburi side of the Chao Phraya River, the legendary Wat Arun is one of the most striking riverside landmarks of Thailand.

Despite the name, the most spectacular view of the glittering monument can be seen from the east side of the river at sunset, when the spires of Wat Arun make an impressive silhouette against the skyline.
