Running: Rockin' Rock to Rock Run 2013 (Penang)

Running In The Name Of Rock!
It was a good 10.2KM run along Batu Ferringhi yesterday. As Batu Ferringhi is located at the beach area in Penang, this running event allows participants to enjoy the scenic beach and sea view in the area. Signed-up for this run alone this round.

About Rock to Rock Run 2013
Race Entry Pack Collection
As per arrangement by the organisor, outstation participants were allowed to collect their race pack the day before the race too. I managed to collect mine at Hard Rock Hotel office. The staffs and the security officers were very helpful. The running tee design was awesome. Still got my own size as selected earlier during registration even for late-collection. Comfortable material by Brooks. Kudos to Hard Rock Hotel Penang!

Running Day
Reached Hard Rock Hotel at 6am. Parking area was available but at a first-come-first-serve basis. Luckily found parking 300 metres away from Hard Rock Hotel.

Head straight for registration and was given a yellow band. On-site runners registration was mentioned in the race guide.

The 10.2km category was flagged at 7am. It was a straight forward run without any turns until KM4 at the round-about. Distance markers were seen at every 2KM. Water station and medical were only available at KM5 after doing a U-turn at the checkpoint. Luckily I was wearing my water bottle belt for own hydration. Received the 2nd wrist band in red at KM5 checkpoint too.

Running: Adidas King Of The Road (KOTR) Malaysia 2013 (Selangor)

Just hours after completing the BSN Putrajaya Night Marathon 2013 in the Half-Marathon (21KM) category, I rushed back home for a quick meal and short nap for the next running event I signed up --- Adidas King Of The Road (KOTR) Malaysia 2013.

Race Details
Date : 20 October 2013 (Sunday)
Venue: NPE Highway, Sunway Pyramid, Petaling Jaya

Runner's Entitlement

- Adidas KOTR Running Vest
- Race Number Bib with RFID
- Finisher Medal for ALL finishers

Registered for the 10KM category together with my younger brother +Shafwan Wahab and his special friend. Had to wear my young sister's S Ray PINK running vest due to the vest size fitting. Adidas happen to provide a larger cutting size different from the measurement shared to participants during registration. My selected S INFRARED was way too big for me. I preferred last year's KOTR vest more.

Completed my 3rd half-marathon (21KM) at BSN Putrajaya Night Marathon 2013 last Saturday. The running event was held at Dataran Putrajaya, WP Putrajaya. This run was my HM anniversary since I started my first HM at the same event last year.

This time I ran with my young brother +Shafwan Wahab, but without the usual Teh Tarik Runners, Irhash and Sharizal. However, I met some hometown Sabahan friends running in the same category.

Unboxing: Nike+ FuelBand SE

Nike has unveiled the new Nike+ FuelBand SE at an event in New York City yesterday.

Nike+ FuelBand SE (2.0) VS Nike+ FuelBand (1.0)
The new band looks almost exactly the same as the old version except for a small splash of color. This time the Nike+ FuelBand is available in Volt, Pink Foil, Total Crimson, and Black. No change on the price at USD$149 which is very good. Feels that this accessory is a bit expensive due to its very basic functions at USD$149 (up to RM450). However it still managed to attract my attention to buy one.

This new band now comes with Bluetooth 4.0, which enables users to track individual sessions and view the Fuel point earnings in real time. However this will drain your iPhone battery faster since connection is establish constantly.

This version includes a variety of different activities session tracking that Nike has already programmed into the app like running to boxing or playing football. Session tracking can also be used to track sleep.

Sizes (circumference): small (5.97 in), medium (6.77 in), large (7.76 in)
Can be customized to fit using 0.32in or 0.63in inserts.

Width: 0.63in at LED, 0.75in at latch
Thickness: 0.27in at LED, 0.32in at latch
Weight: 27g-35g (higher end includes insert)

Display Modes:
  • Time
  • Calories burned
  • Steps taken
  • NikeFuel earned

Water Resistant: Yes
Waterproof: No
Battery life: up to 7 days (Mine can last up to 4 days with active running activities)

Item Review
Sad news to people staying in Malaysia. This is not available in Nike stores here. Other way to get one is by purchasing at eBay or Mudah platform. But the pricing may be bit more expensive due to third-party assistance. Be sure to get the correct size which will fit comfortably on your wrist too.

Gadget Recommendation: ★★★★ (4/5)

Nike+ FuelBand (1.0) Unboxing
It's been almost 10 months since I have been using my Nike+ Fuelband. Got mine during last year's Christmas from my friend staying in the United States. Check out the functions I recorded on my Keek.

Running: Care For The Cause at The Pink Charity Run 2013 (Selangor)

Real Men Wear Pink!
It's Pink October!
As October designated as National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, many people put their efforts into showing their commitment to the cause.

I took part in supporting the cause by running at The Pink Charity Run 2013 organised by Pantai Hospital Klang yesterday, 13th October 2013 at Stadium Padang Sultan Sulaiman, Klang, Selangor.

Registered myself for the 5KM category with my running partner Farrah this time.

Considering this as a warm-up run for my upcoming runs next week. Will be running for 21KM at BSN Putrajaya Night Marathon 2013 and 10KM Adidas King of the Road the next morning.

Race Details

Date : 13 October 2013 (Sunday)
Categories Distance: 12KM and 5KM

Runner's Entitlement

- Exclusive New Balance Running Singlet
- Race Number Bib
- Finisher Medal for ALL finishers
- After race lucky draw

Running Day
Reached the venue 30 minutes before flag-off. Parking was a bit hard due to total number of participants year. So parking was at first-come-first-serve basis. The RELA officials were well-stationed at venue.

Started the run with some drizzles and light rain. I avoided the road shoulder during my run due to wet and may be slippery. Traffic at the main junctions were properly controlled by traffic officials. Basic water station was available at KM3. During my 5KM run, I only noticed 1 distance marker, made of cardboard at near to KM3. Not sure for the 12KM route.
