Running: MRC 10KM Charity Run For Humanity 2015 (Sabah)

Since 2XU Compression Run 2015 was postponed, I decided to modify my Singapore travel plans and came back to my lovely hometown, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah for the weekend. Shorten my stay in Singapore and flew home from Johor Bahru after collecting my 2XU race pack.

I am fortunate that the MRC 10K Charity Run for Humanity 2015 is happening the same weekend held at Stadium Likas. Never did signed up for this race event, hence planning to 'ghost run' but I was lucky to get a to let-go race BIB from a friend. Met Ajib the night before race day for the running tee and race BIB.

Race Day
Reached the event area 30 minutes the 10KM flag off at 6.30am. No problem with parking since the venue was at the state official stadium. Decided to wear my 2XU Compression Run official kit this round since the event running tee was large for me. Able to meet my runner friend, Deffna and friends at the starting line.  The race event was flagged by the State TYT.

The race includes a very scenic view of Kota Kinabalu coastal area in the morning. Race route was flat heading towards Yayasan Sabah, suitable for all type of runners.

Running: Possible Run 2015 (Kuala Lumpur)

Since Padang Merbok is a good training ground for runners, I purposely registered for an event called Possible Run 2015 the morning after the MHWH Night Run 2015. Thought of bucking up my fitness with more mileage as preparation for the 'postponed' 2XU Compression Run 2015 in Singapore.

Race Kit Entry Collection
Collected my race pack on Saturday morning, a day before race day at Wisma OCM near to Stadium Merdeka. Inside the woven bag was a Mizuno running tee with BIB. No race chip included though.

Race Day
No hassle for me getting to the race venue since I was riding. Left my baggage at the baggage deposit tent where I met my colleague Hadi. Runner friend, Neves was there too. Flag off for the 10KM race was at 7.30am instead of 7.00am which I find a bit rare.

Starting Line
Baggage Tag
Since I was still 'warm' after MHWH the night before, I decided to push myself for a faster than usual for the first few KM. The first water station was located at KM5 after a few hilly challenges. No problem with traffic as traffic marshals, PDRM and volunteers were on duty along the race route.

Running Map

Tried to tag along the aerobic instructor runner, Fizan at KM6 but only lasted for a KM.

I crossed the finishing line for the 10KM race at 1.06 hours. Received my finisher medal and a bottle of water by the volunteers. Collected my baggage and regroup with Hadi, Neves, Hafiz, Tay Adam, Norazlina and other runner friends for quick photo session.

Running: Men's Health & Women's Health Night Run 2015 (Putrajaya) #MHWHNightRun15

Continued my running mileage the week after by signing up for Men's Health & Women's Health Night Run 2015 in 12KM category on 21 March 2015 at Putrajaya.

Managed to register last-minute after the organisor announced the extra slots for this race event. Confirmed my participation for this night run while I was in Manila last January for Condura Skyway Marathon 2015. No choice but to opt for a large size of running tee as that was the only size available for male. Running tee sizes were very limited during its normal registration period too.

Thank you to Ecah and Nieza from MY365Runners who helped my race pack collection a week earlier before race day due to outstation.

Race Day
The usual traveling process to the race venue at Dataran Perbadanan Putrajaya. Met Nieza, Ecah and friends at the starting line in the 12KM category. The 12KM was flagged at 8PM while 5KM Fun Run 15 minutes later.

Decided to take the night run slow with a steady pace of 8" - 9" with the lady pacers. To add, we were some of the last 12KM runners to start the race. First water station was located from 3.5KM with cheerful and friendly volunteers. The race route was well managed by traffic marshals and the police.

Running Friends
At KM7, had the chance to get our photographs taken by the official-photographers (on their motorcycle). Still looking for the photographs to be uploaded and shared though.

Running: EMPTA Charity Run 2015 (Kuala Lumpur)

After 6 weeks of cheat day, I decided to run 10K in the EMPTA Charity Run 2015 on March 15 held at my least-favourite run route, Padang Merbok, Kuala Lumpur.

Opted for this event as pre-run and mileage towards the upcoming 2XU Compression Run 2015 in Singapore.

Update: After serious consideration, 2XU Compression Run 2015 SG have been postponed because it will coincide with the state funeral of the late Mr. Lee Kuan Yew and, out of respect for him and his family. New race date to be advise by 10 April 2015.

Race Day
Due to outstation-work, I had to write via email to the organisor in regards of my race pack collection. Glad that the organisor allowed me to collect on the race day itself as early at 6am.

No timing chip provided in the race pack though. Left my coupon that was attached with the race bib in the registration box for lucky draw later.

Race Pack
Pre-Run Stretching
Bumped into a runner-friend Calvin, from RHB half Marathon during my way to the starting line 5 minutes before flag-off. Nothing new along the race route to report. Most basic facilities were available for participants. Traffic and water stations were well managed. St. John Ambulance volunteers were seen at every check-points.

To be honest, it was a tough race for me this time with no training for almost 6 weeks. Totally need the oxygen at KM3.

Managed to complete the race course at 01:06 on my Nike+ Running. Got my finisher medal and a bottle of water at the finishing line.

Event Area
The event area was small but suitable for the total numbers of participants in the race event. There was watermelons at one of the booths for runners. There was an event photo wall for photography session.

Met Ameeyn from MY365Runners while waiting for the lucky draw session. Saw some bicycles on stage as lucky draw prizes.

Photography: Nikon Club Get-Together - 8 March 2015 (Selangor)

Had to the opportunity to join another Nikon Club Malaysia Get-Together held in Shah Alam, Selangor on early March 2015. It's been a while since I last joined an event organised by Nikon Malaysia. With the usual expectation, I registered online at the club website few weeks earlier.

The event was straight-forward, started with a briefing by Nikon Malaysia officials, Nikon official tee distribution and photoshoot session with 6 lovely models. I had fun meeting other photography enthusiast and made new friends.

I recommend all Nikon owners to sign-up for this type of events as you will get the chance to test your photography skills and get good insights on how to improve your captured shots from other Nikon photographers at the event.
