Running: Borneo International Marathon 2015 (Sabah)

I'm back to my lovely hometown Kota Kinabalu, Sabah for my 2nd year running in Borneo International Marathon. This year, I opted for the Half Marathon category to extend my distance from last year. Registration was between RM70 - RM90 for the usual categories. I was glad that the organisor deciced to freshen the finisher medal design. This was shared through their Facebook page few month prior to race day.

Tons of running friends including those from KL had signed up for this event. Local Sabahan running friends will definitely be there since this was a well-known running event in Sabah.

Race Pack Collection
Flew home one day before race day for race pack entry collection. Similar to last year, RPEC was held at Level 6, Suria Sabah located in the middle of the KK city. Race kit consisted of Brooks running tee, BIB, some vouchers and race guide was given by friendly volunteers. Race kit collection was fast and organised. Booths by sponsor and partners were seen in the area.

Race Kit
Had carbo-loading with MY365Runners friends, Sabahan runners Tinie and Kakai with Syi and Tajul from KL who signed up for the Full Marathon category somewhere around town afterwards.

Race Day
The flag off was held right in front of Stadium Likas entrance. The Half Marathon category flag off time was at 5.00am, two hours after the Full Marathon category. Free parking facility at the stadium area was available. No baggage deposit which was inconvenience to runners with personal belongings like car keys, towel, etc.

Decided to bring along a GoPro Hero 4 to capture my running moments this time - Itu GoPro bukan saya punya, pinjam sahaja pun.

Water Station
The first water station was located at KM3 with Revive isotonic and water. Medic volunteers were seen at every checkpoints. Made my way running towards Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) main entrance gate at KM7.5 for my first time. This route was hilly with elevation up to 400 metres. This was where I started to meet with familiar faces from local Sabahan running friends, KL friends to also new-found-running-friends.

Running: Hulu Langat Trail Run 2015 (Selangor)

This was my first experience running trail at Hulu Langat Forest Reserve which is part of the State Forest Park during my participation in the Hulu Langat Trail Run 2015 last 26 April. The race venue is popular among the locals especially hikers for camping, trekking the forest trails, family picnics with its great swimming hole.

The 12KM trail run cost at RM80 consisted of a Salomon running tee, BIB and discount vouchers. Race pack collection was held 1 week prior to race date at World of Sports (WOS), Garden Midvalley.

Running Day
Used Waze app on my smartphone to get to the race venue. Took me about 30 mins by car to reach, 1 hour before the flag off time which was at 8.00am. Parking was no problem with RELA officials in duty.

Bumped into Yen Yen, Azrul and friend at the parking area. Nice to see a pre-water station tent by Extrajoss. There was a safety briefing at the starting line by race officials. The weather was sunny as at flag off time.

Pre-Water Station
The race route was dusty, muddy and absolutely hilly up to 200 metres of elevation. Few water stations with isotonic water like Extrajoss and also PowerBar were set up along the 12KM race route. Managed to make some new friends along the way too. Medical volunteers with their first-aid kit were seen at most checkpoints.

Running: MSMW Twitterthon 2015 (Putrajaya) #MSMW2015 #MSMWTwitterthon #PetronasPRIMAX

Decided to take part for a 5KM Fun Run at MSMW Twitterthon 2015 held at Putrajaya on 25 April 2015. Race day was on Saturday morning, one day before my next 12KM trail race at Hulu Langat.

Thanks to Runwitme Instagram, I managed to do last minute registration during its race pack collection week at Times Square Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. Got complaints from other participants due to the location and collection time which were weekdays instead of weekend. The 5KM Fun Run cost me RM45 which includes a New Balance running tee and BIB. Huge name of sponsors such as Petronas and Malaysia Airlines for this event.

Didn't have much expectation on this race though, since I am not familiar with the event organisor. To be honest, I signed up to test run my new running kicks bought earlier.

Running Day
Reached the event venue 1 hour prior to flag-off time at 7am. Designated parking for participants was very very close to the event area with RELA officials on duty for security. There was a baggage deposit counter and registration counter for last-minute walk-in's too.

Event Area
The 5KM Fun Run was flagged at 7.15am instead of 7.00am, which was no problem for me. The event scale was around 200 - 300 paxs. With the tagline "Run & Tweet", runners were encouraged to take their photos at check points by sponsors and partners along the 5KM race route. Sponsors and partners had their photowalls for runners to pose, take photo and tweet or upload into their social media accounts such as Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.

It's unfortunate that I didn't spent much time at these checkpoints. Some of the checkpoints were exciting with inflatable slides, trampoline stations and nicely design backdrop art. Took the opportunity to capture some photos of volunteers and the race route.

Completed the fun run at 25 minutes according to my Nike+ Running. Was given a goodie bag at the finishing line by the friendly volunteers with finisher medal and bottle of water inside.
